About Rio Plaza

The oldest school in the district, Rio Plaza Elementary School has been encouraging early learning for 60 years. With a solid history behind us, we have worked to stay on the cutting edge of elementary education. We offer top academic programs, including a Headstart classroom and all day Kindergarten. Additionally, we provide after-school programs including Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. Classrooms have 21st Century technology allowing teachers and students to easily access the World Wide Web, collaborate with technology tools, create and present quality technology presentations, and use teaching and learning software and apps with wireless technology. We have a robust Accelerated Reader program and have recently invested in increasing the number of book titles in the library. Parents are encourage to become involved in School Site Council, the English Language Advisory Committee, PTA, and English classes for Parents provided by Laubach Literacy.

Principal's Message

I am the proud principal of Rio Plaza Dual and English Immersion School. I am part of a team of trailblazers whose primary vision is to help each student reach their highest potential by nurturing and cultivating the whole child. We strive to develop student agency and introspection, skills necessary to successfully compete in a global society. We strive to provide access to rigorous curricula that challenge while stimulating their minds. We are committed to working closely with students, parents, and community members to make Rio Plaza an excellent place for individuals to thrive as bilingual, bi-literate, and cross-cultural learners.

One of my primary goals is to provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff members to discover their passions and potential. I aim to inspire everyone to reach their most accurate capacity and accomplish greatness. I believe it is my moral obligation to lead by example and help individuals take risks for their future. I set high expectations for all individuals and expect no less from myself. Come and join our exuberant team!
